Living
in the god self
In the creation of our Western
secular culture, the baby was sometimes thrown out with the bath water. Now we
are in process of re-creating an understanding of spirituality without the manipulations
and tribal imperatives of trying to gain control and power over others.
Each
being has a part of their consciousness which is connected to the All. This can
be called spirit, Christ consciousness, universal consciousness, soul…the label
is not important. The concept is.
This is
the part of us that leaves when we die, the part of knows, thinks, feels and
holds identity. When we sink deep into this aspect, we find our soul.
That is the part of us that is beyond time or space. We can call this spark of
life, the god-self. Knowing, manifesting, living from this god-self is the most
essential goal of our lives. All other goals only serve to support this driving
hunger which will hound us until we realise the god-self as much as we can.
This is a lifelong task, and each moment can be employed in its achievement.
Only this awareness will alleviate the suffering of everyday life and give us joy.
Therefore,
during the day, at any time, we can remind ourselves of our spiritual purpose.
This is the goal of ritual, enacting through
repetitive actions the metaphor of the individual becoming in touch with the
All. This does not have to be a complex reminder, it can simply saying phrases
to ourselves, of facing the four directions in the morning, of listening to the
environment for omens, of gathering with others of like intentions and stating
and restating our spiritual understandings. In the creation of our new society, these
reminders are essential, like way markers that show us how to proceed along the
path.
Try
This
1. Visualize the day ahead of you. See how you
can divide it into blocks of tasks and activities. At the beginning of each new
activity say to yourself “ Working (cooking, walking, writing…whatever your activity
is) with my god-self.
2. At the end of the day, when you have a few
moments to reflect on what the world has given you, think about how this
reminder changed you. Did it help to focus you on your higher learning? Did it
make your interactions more peaceful? Did it change your posture or how you
hold your chakras? (I find repeating this to myself immediately opens up my
throat chakra.)
3.
When you spend time in silence in the natural
world , say to yourself “With my god-self” and understand for a moment the
unity between you and the All.
4.
Record how these reminders are influencing you. Do
you want to change these reminders somehow? Make them more influential? How?
