The River Books-Session 5-Part One Dream people and messages from All knowledge is Within

There are times when dreams are powerful, clear and carry profound messages about health, relationships, life path, career-all aspects of being. There are other times where dreams are weak and incoherent.  Some mornings I wake up with a vague sense of ambiguous images, fleeing words, the frustration of almost grasping something important, and then losing it.

How can I receive better dreams? What can I do before I go to sleep to invite the deep messages that dreams can deliver?

How do I understand these inner experiences that seem significant but inaccessible?

The next week I returned to the channel’s sunlight apartment with my dream journal in hand, ready with questions.

Julia: Before we get started on other material, can you comment on my dream about a young boy committing suicide?

River: As we said, dreams are knowledge within and without. And they should be looked upon as great messages, as ways of understanding the self and where the self is.

Committing suicide is a denial of some inner part. If you make a decision, part of the self is destroyed for the greater harmony or as an external capitulation to the wants and desires of others.

There is within a small boy girl man and woman; a large boy, girl, man and woman. Eight facets in each person and for each Way. For example, in the Water Way, small girl, small boy, small woman, small man and so on. By small we do not mean so much as the size of the parts, but how they happened been developed, through choices or external environmental pressures.

Small equals developed. Suicide is one method of not developing. Therefore, your dream is a decision not to allow development of the small boy within. The childlike, the male child like part of self. It is not a negative dream, as much for self knowledge. This is what you have done.

Julia: Who is the small boy?

River: The little boy, like the little girl, are aspects of self within each Way

Trulia: Can you say more about the eight dream people?

River: In each individual, there are eight poles. In each pole are the opposites, big and little, and by big and little, we do not mean size, but adult, mature, healthy, versus insular, self centred, childlike.

However, within each of the poles are negatives and positives. For example, within the small boy there are positive and negative. A small boy can have the positive qualities of being childlike, accepting, innocent, spontaneous. The opposite of this, would be the qualities of manipulation, and he would be self centred as in self involved without any outward perspective. Small boy then is spontaneity, honesty of being who he is at the moment, joyfully. However there is also a negative part if that part of the individual is being expressed at that time.

Similarly within each individual is the adult man and woman. The larger self, the larger male and the larger female. This is true of men and women, for All these figures reside within at All times. Within All beings! The adult male, is the aspect embodying responsibility. At the same time it is one of playfulness. It is responsibility and care of others. This is the positive side. And equally it has a negative side- domination, aggression and total selfishness, a sense of righteousness without the mediating factor of patience, love and respect.

It is easy therefore to see the wide circle of opposites that play within each individual. It is probably not necessary to go over All of them. They may be different for each individual: small boy, big boy, small girl, big girl, small woman, big woman, small man, big man... and around the circle. Each has its opposites- small girl has grown up woman. And the opposites within the small girl, the small female child with the negatives and opposites.

The integration of all these is of course transformation and a great rising of the Great Net. This is not so much a spiritual aspect of being, but a practical human aspect of being. In this, within the dream you are sensing a human perspective of self. It affects the spiritual, but it is more a working out during your lifetime and what you have brought forward from other lifetimes. In other words, this is a temporary structure of self in this lifetime. It is not part of the Great Ways. Fun to play with, interesting to understand, and very self-instructive about what is going on, and in others of course.

So within the practicalities of everyday life, it is therefore instructive and interesting to know what is happening, in the deeper parts of self. This is where dreams become important.

If you are dreaming about a small boy committing suicide we would suggest that you view it as your own inner small boy, and view it as the negative of the positive of what the smAll boy has the potential of being. small boy and committing suicide probably is, in this case, you're asking the negative part of small boy to destroy itself for the greater good. Leaving room for its opposite to assume more importance for the integration of All. Is this understood?

Julia: Yes.

River: Perhaps in the writing it would be easy for you then to construct the circle and within the circle, plot out the positives and the negatives, and the lessons that are being learned at each stage. However, we caution that it is only at this lifetime. A fun project.

Julia: Can I ask you a question about another dream I had.

River: Yes.

Julia: I had a dream where animals were scratching at my breasts. Was this an indication of health problems?

River: Animals? As in real animals that are living?

Julia: I think it was a puppy and a kitten.

River: Certainly, this is not about health problems. There are myriad helpers that are approaching you. Your heart is widening as your view of yourself in the world widens As your spirituality awakens and widens- so your unconscious attaches to animals and draws them in as teachers.

They are also energy raisers and playmates. Any kind of action in a dream stage within the chest area with the animal world is a good sign. The animal world entering your physical body is a good sign. It is not an invasion of course, but an indication of your willingness to Allow other forms of knowing the self and knowing your position in the world. Animals within the chest area, either good or bad experiences i.e. terror, fear, pain, in any form can be viewed in a positive way. The veils between the conscious and unconscious, the veils between knowing within and without are being combined.

Any dreamlike altered state is your connection with your inner self, and All knowledge is within is more accessible. Do not be afraid of experiences of this kind, they are a powerful sign, a sign of growing strength, and a sign of the ability to express the self on many levels. Are there any further questions?

Julia: I've been having vivid dreams lately, are the images I'm getting from the River?

River: You're getting some images from the River which is in some ways breaking up, into a more powerful entity. The entities within that came together to combine their purposes are dancing apart, drawing with their drawing apart, memories, power and essences of All these. Each one then carries within itself the River, and All entities within the River are in an independent way, participating in the whole purpose.

You are getting images of the River as they regain their own freedom to be. You will experience much joyful, chaotic, expanding images during this next period of time. It is a great celebration. It is as if many thousands have held on to each other in a great learning and as they move apart, they carry the essences of the All back into themselves.

They are not separate, they are each completely whole, each a mirror image of all the others within the River. It is a joyful celebration. It is as if all the gifts of all the entities, become all entities. A new moon, on the cosmic scale. You are experiencing this for your great connection with the River. Seen in this way, enjoy it, do not take it All too seriously, for there are great shouts and great dreams being dreamed.

Julia: Thank you very much.

River: We would suggest that during this time allowing your dreams to be as open as possible. Saying to yourself before sleep, “I am open and receptive.” It is at this time that you will experience the River, and the entities within the River- keeping track of them, understanding them and just enjoying them.

Julia: Could you talk more about dream work.

River: Yes this is an area when we spoke of symbols of each individual’s Ways. Dreams are on two levels, they are the dreamer’s symbols and they're also the dreamer’s connection with the great oversoul of humanity. For each individual depending on their path, and past lives, are the lives and symbols of their own journey throughout time. So a dream can be understand within each of those three levels.

Animals, plants and humanity and of course the mineral world are All represented in a dream. Each thing within the dream speaks to this life as lessons. Therefore, within a dream, each thing must be dealt with as the mirror. Dream work is that- dream work, and while it is not necessary to dissect in great detail the dream to impart within to the very gut level of knowingness, certainly it is wise, when the dream becomes a demand, to sit down with the dream and work it through. These dreams will make themselves known by waking you up in the night, with a complete memory or through technicolor or through repetition until finally the individual is forced to deal with it

Therefore, when a dream demands attention, it is part of the self that is saying, ”This part needs attention. This is an area of neglect that now needs attention.” Perhaps it is a stuck place within the individual, and needs to be worked through for further growth. It can be equally a stuck place for humanity.

For example, anger outward towards the environment can become a stuck place for the individual, of course, it can also become the stuck place for humanity. Keeping the individual locked into this stuck place influences the oversoul with a repetitiveness. This repetitiveness does not do any good for the individual or the oversoul. Therefore, All around the world in All humanity, similar dreams will be repeated as a Way of healing the over self.

An individual working out for themselves this part of the deep unconscious does much healing for the larger group dream. Also, dreams can be dreamed for other individuals or for other over souls. For example, the mineral world needs to be dreamed by humanity to make itself more real. The animal world may in fact dream our dreams, from our humanity dream world. The interconnections are multifaceted as you can tell.

However a dream presents itself, in quietness, sit down with the dream and go through it step by step. See the dream and go through it in your mind. When it has been gone over once, go back to the beginning and take the environment first. Ask- what was the physical environment? This is your connection with the inanimate world within and without. For example, in a dream of a house, the floor, go over the particulars of the dream and sense the floor. What is the floor representing to you? What do the windows represent to you? Ask the windows about their symbolism.

From the connections go to Ways, finding out what the symbols mean to you. Also release this from your body. The environment then is symbolic of your journey. Go through the dream and each part of the environment, find the symbol. Do not be too dogged about it! Windows… light… searching… forward, whatever the end product is note it and let it go.

Next in the dream, All living matter that is not human. This may be plant or animal. Repeat the process. Finally, find what other humans are in the dream. What are they symbolizing? For example, there is a woman wearing a red dress. What does that symbolize? What were the feelings in that part of the dream? When the woman in the red dress went by, what did you feel? When I raced down the hallway, what was my feeling then?

Lastly, after addressing the symbols of humanity, other beings and relationships, look at the dream as a whole and ask the dream, almost as asking a person in front of you, “Speak! What are you telling me at this time?  I need to know about myself and how I am affecting the outside world. For the outside world is there in this dress.” Examine first the environment, then who is in the dream, then the overall message.

At this point it is wise to ask yourself, is this my dream? Is this my dress of now? Or is this my dream from my past life? If the spontaneous answer is -this is a dream from a past life, then what is holding the dream into you now? What within the dream is still within the body's cells memory? It may be as simple as an unfortunate death with memories still locked within you of the agony of dying. It may be unresolved commitments or anger in motion or just the fact that it has not been felt finalized in some way that needs to be paid attention to and released.

For example, if the tree is from a past life, and experience, at this time it is locked within your body in some place and requires healing. Quickly find where in the body this dream is centred by quickly running the hand over the body and finding, “Ah that is where the dream is centred.” It may be in a chakra area or it may be in some outer extremity from which the physical sensation is going in. Then take that dream out from that area, because that is where the dream is held. Then hold it in the hands and release it. You have then accomplished that life time’s finalization. If you do this properly the trapped experience will not come back again.

The final thing to do with the dream is to see it complete. Take one core sentence from it in a positive note. Repeat it to yourself and then let it go. In this way you have accomplished the dream work.

Say for example, a dream of a flute, in a room by itself. If the dream work is neglected, music of the inner sou may be neglected.  “I must see myself more. I give myself a voice more.” How positive that is! Or more simply-“I am music and it is beautiful.”

Do not scold yourself within these sentences but turn them into a positive statement of being. “I am... Something.” that is the finalization of dreamwork, a statement of being. A recalling, of working through and finally a statement. In this process you have transformed it in a very deep part of yourself. Is this process clear?

Julia: That's fine.  I have a question about the environment of dreams, some dreams just don't seem to have environments.

River: Environment can be as simple as the clothing that you wear. What are the people wearing? Environment isn't just the walls and windows, ground and sky, although it certainly can be. It can be the clothes, it can be sound, it can be whatever is around, figures. If it's a dream solely of feelings, then that two can be worked with by imagining an environment created from feelings and being open to that will give  a true experience of the environment. For in the dream work you are expressing a very deep part of the self which lies. But even in lying it is telling the truth. It is very difficult to tell a lie which is not a major component of truth.

In the dreaming of others’ dreams, this does happen on some occasions, and it is felt as being an uneasy, puzzling dream that does not feel familiar in any way. Place this dream in the chest area and mentally imagine where it is attached outward into the environment. Follow it along until it is attached to a person. That is where the dream originates. When you know who is the owner of the dream, gently detach it from this chest area. Return it with love and compassion. This allows that individual to work on their own dream and you are not doing it for them.
