Chapter Ten- Regulating energy flows in the body to prevent illness
At the time of this session, I was working closely inside an NGO with refugees, drug addicts and victims of torture and violence. It was intense work and I often felt exhausted at the end of the day. But when it came time for me to rest, I felt buzzy, restless and unable to fall into a deep sleep. Here is a short session which the River channeled about how to regulate energy flows within the body.
Now, more
than thirty years later, I understand their teachings better about regulating
energy up and down the central channel of the spine, both physical and energic.
I can now identify where I’m holding too much energy in one or more chakras. I as
particularly interested in their comments about arthritis because since this
time of the channeling, I’ve developed some arthritis in my lower back or
lumbar spine. I have pondered why arthritis has develop there and I am reminded
of what a shaman told me once, that lower back pain is associated with lack of
support in my life. I have thought about that much since she told me this, and
I recognize that the back symbolizes support and stability, and the lumbar
spine represents the gateway between the earthy first chakra and the more
emotional second chakra. According to
Louise Hay, lower back pain is associate with fear about survival and a
blocking of creativity. This certainly resonances with me. I notice often I
slouch in my posture, and I habitually hold my pelvis in an anterior tilt.
I developed that
posture when I was pregnant with my son, more than 50 years ago. I wonder if
somehow, because his birth triggered an entire cascade of abandonment events, I
still hold those traumas in my lumbar spine. My son and I were evicted from my
home when my son was eight months old. It was a home that my husband and I
built together, so I had lots of attachment and love for that place. My first
husband decided he didn’t want the responsibility of being a father once the
baby was born, and when our son was eight months old, with the encouragement of
his mother, threw us both out of our home. It was a treachery that still lingers
and resonances in my body. I believe during my pregnancy, I held my pelvis with
an anterior tilt pose, trying sub consciously to protect myself and my unborn
son from the ravages of abandonment that were already evident.
I know I
need to heal that part of my body and history…but, as anyone who has done
serious work on themselves, trauma is difficult to resolve, especially trauma
that also resonances with ancestral traumas. My ancestors on both sides of my
family of origin, lost our homelands in Scotland during the land clearances, on
one side, and Irish diaspora following the famines of the 1850’s. Losing my
home, with an infant and no visible means of support and suffering from total
estrangement and lack of parental help with raising my son, all contributed to
my deep holding of loss, grief and diminishment of life goals and soul purpose
But that is
my story. I tell it because I hope you can relate to the suffering of my
motherhood years and understand that you are not alone in these times when our political
systems betray our human needs for simple requirements like housing, food and
belonging. Every so-called billionaire in these times will be judged after their
deaths in the in-between times, and believe me, you don’t want to suffer the
consequences that they have incurred with their greed and cruelty.
One piece of
advice I will offer to any woman thinking about having a baby, please consider
what would happen if your partner suddenly deserted you, leaving you and you
child or children without any support, protection or parenting help. Don’t rely
on promises or vows of ‘love’ to support you through the motherhood years. When
50-90 % of relationships involving children break up, this possibility is a
very real options for most families. Statistics for Canada show that on
average, 18% of children in Canada from the age of one to seventeen have experienced
a separation or divorce of their parents. (https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/11-627-m/11-627-m2022018-eng.htm
). There are too many women who don’t seem to understand that each mother must
be prepared for abandonment, because…its really common. End of transmission on
that topic.
Here are
some techniques that can help somatically heal traumas of the mind and body.

River: Greetings
and how is it with you?
Julia: Good!
River: We
sense this, we sense a resolution of many things and a great freeing up of
energy and the bad times are forgotten until the next bad time. But each time
around, each time of depression, each time of lowness, the lows are less low an
equilibrium is gained quicker. Do you have questions for us before we continue?
Julia: It
almost seems like too much energy is being released for me.
River: This
energy that is flowing through you is only too much if at any point of the flow
there are blocks which cause resistance. It is not a lower or smaller amount of
energy, there is energy and it cannot be too much. It is only what the human
body and mind does with the energy, that causes it to feel like too much or too
little. This source of energy flow is not from the outside in, it is dependent
inside out as much as it is outside in. In fact, from our perspective, there is
no outward energy, there is only the interior energy flow outwards. In other words,
the flow of energy is from the inside out. It is constant and never changing.
It is.
The human
mind through thought, causes blocks at any part of the flow, or the body closes
down through subtle muscular and even cellular closing. When this happens, the
steady flow of energy becomes like a hose that is cut off, and the body feels
like it cannot move freely.
With these
kinds of people in habitual sense, there is great damage to the bones, causing
arthritis. They may have minor injury to tendons and muscles. For it is the
body in closing down from intent from the mind, with the conscious and the
subconscious giving messages to the body, when the body responds by subtle
closing down the flow of energy. It is from the mistaken hope that by doing so,
energy is conserved and utilized in a more practical and purposeful manner.
This is from
the mistaken idea did there is a limited amount of energy, one, or that energy
flows more sometimes than another times. This is not the case. If you are
giving your body the messages of lack, then the muscles and the cells, close
down the flow. Physical pain and physical distress happens.
This is not
your case. What you are doing with the natural flow of energy is running it too
fast through areas which do not need it at all times. For example, at this time
you are running energy from the centre to mostly the head regions.
So, what you
are sensing as too much energy, is too much energy directed to one area- to the
chakras in the brain, and more specifically, the chakras in the inner cortex at
this point.
What you
need to do, is to run energy in an equal way to all parts of the body, outward
in your case. Lowering energy to the lower root chakra will cause a great
change in how you feel. It is simple. It is a matter of grounding yourself.
When you notice energy is running in only one direction, instead, visualize the
energy coming from the source, the interior cavity of your body and radiating
outward, almost like sunlight, in all directions, flowing down, flowing up,
flowing back, flowing out.
At this
point most of your energy is flowing upwards. You are calling the energy
upwards, utilizing the energy in some interior way to be able to cope using
your mind in your creativity. This is a mistaken belief, for your mind and your
creativity are linked, just as much as throughout your whole body and not just as
the mental process that goes on in the mind.
In other
words, creativity, wisdom, and thought are not just mind products, but whole-body
products, in very complex, interrelated net-like ways
Now
understanding this, you can see how important it is to make sure your energy is
not running in just one direction, or to one place. It is dangerous in fact, to
work on any one chakra as an energy source. When one does that, by the very
implication and by the subconscious messages, you close down or a narrow that channel.
This causes physical illness and mental disturbance.
Practically,
visualize for a certain period, perhaps a week, we do not like to tell you this
because it goes against the rules and laws of energy, but for a balancing it is
certainly a good thing to do on a temporary basis, see the energy run through
you in this direction(channel shows a downward movement) for one week. In this
way you will draw off some of the nervous energy that is causing distress in
the mind and actually blocking the use of all your energy and your creativity
and your thinking, the wisdom part of your soul
As we have
said, energy is not something which flows in one direction, or any direction,
it is a constant radiating, movement, from inside of the body. At the same
time, it is not from a particular place, it is from all the body, from all the
levels within the body, the linkages to within, and all beings are within this
flow. At the same time, as you know, there are also the chakra areas, however
they are not only energy nodules, but as we have said before, they are the
memory store houses of all lifetimes. They are who you are, in all lifetimes,
and carry the wisdom that is accumulated through all lifetimes. It is there,
within the very cells of the chakra that you are.
Therefore,
visualizing and knowing this about energy, gives you an understanding of how to
use the energy that is within. It is always there, it is only the mind and the
emotions and intent, that causes problems and imbalance. It is possible and has
been used by many to intentionally close down some areas within the body with their
energy sources, and by so directing the energy to other parts of the body.
This has
been done by shaman, and witches, priests, artists, and visionaries, and can be
undertaken in some safety if knowledge is complete.
If it is
done without knowledge, it is very dangerous thing and can cause insanity or
physical illness or depression which is very hard to release. It is possible to
direct by accumulating from one area to another a force, directed at one chakra
to intensify the wisdom of that chakra. You can imagine the process, it is very
easy.
However,
your question has gone beyond what we wanted to speak about today. We would
suggest that this week, see the energy flowing downward, though remembering it
is not a natural flow. So, it is a way of grounding and releasing tension from an
accumulated glut of energy into the upper chakra in your skull. Are there
further questions on this matter? It is of interest not only to you but too
many period
Julia: No, I
don't think so- not at this time. Thank you.
