Chapter 16 Life Meditations Part One

Following two weeks of practicing the Death meditation, and our discussion of its benefits, the River suggested I move on to a Life meditation. This meditation is the opposite of the Death Meditation but also the balancer and completion of the integration of life and death.

They suggested I start the life meditation by focusing on my knees. There are several reasons why they chose the knees. First of all, when I was six years old I was hit by a truck in my right knee which left me with a permanent limp. This injury affected me throughout my life, resulting in  flare ups into my hips and back and up into my shoulders and neck. Without my conscious knowledge, I have favoured the right side of my body all my life, and that lead to painful flare ups in my neck and shoulders. This injury caused many long years of agonizing migraines and flare ups.

Awareness changes everything. Conscious aliveness is the first step to positive change.

I have come to understand that knees represent the most courageous part of our bodies. The knees go first, they carry us forward, moving and holding us in movement in a multitude of ways throughout the day. If you are feeling stuck, depressed, unable to make decisions, I suggest start the Life Meditation with focusing on your knees for at least a week. When ever you can remember to be mindful, bring your awareness down into your knees.

Following is the direct transcript from the River channeling about the next practice of transformation.

River: The work now, the ongoing work now, is to live fully life and death, now. And that is the next stage, the next stage of your journey, and of our togetherness. What is it to be fully alive? Alive, honoring to self-Now. Constant inquisitive scrutiny of Self. Not encumbered with the environment, but self living within the environment. Living the environment! You are living the environment, and that is your next work, to be fully living in the environment of yourself. Within the environment of the world. (See my second River book- Soul Catching-finding sacred connections in our environments for sale on my website visionaryjourneys.net.)

First life meditation- your requirements for the next week is to scrutinize with inquisitiveness, the life within your body. In the same way as with the Death meditation, you are to view each part of the body as being wholly, fully impacted with life. What does that mean? To have the knee completely impacted with life, swollen with energetic connection, life, within the Self and the environment. It is here that you are connected to self and environment now. Now feel that, be that.

It is here, (channel bounces her fists on her knees) at the knees that you are fully engaged with self and the Great Net of consciousness. What does this mean- this power to be? Empty this self into the total knowingness, of life there. In whatever visualization helps this process, be creative to the power that you have, to sense and to be that light.

We do not mean so much life, as life within you, but what is lifeness within this hip? What is that beginning cosmic lifeless? That is there and there. (Channel bounces fists on her knees again). This is the junction, the interface of you and the Great Net, all that takes place within the ankle, the calf, the knee, and the hip. All that takes place is you, is the Great Net, is time and space.

These are joyful exercises and will fill you full of great energy, so that your sleep patterns may be disturbed. That is fine, for you bring with these exercises the force of life, the flow of life, the release of life into all parts of being.

In this way you work with where you are stuck within your physical body, into being life. For as we have said before, memory of past experiences, behavior and past lives of yourself, you and also those around you that have attached to you for one reason or another, are coded within your very body and within your very DNA molecular structure. You will find places within your body that are denied connection with the Great Net, and your space in the Great Net.

The Life meditation will bring pictures, as with death, that are easily unblocked by bringing life into the spaces of that spot. How can you visualize this? We can give suggestions, but it must be your experience, what life is, energy is, that must be used. So for example, within your hip, you may find within the life energy matter (which is different from your body matter) images, memory, burdens of past lives and people and experience, that drain the flow of fullness of life there.

It may be that your experience with death will make this far easier, for we are dealing now not with death as the blocks in life but as life as the block into death. For those two must be one complete whole, and at the place of wholeness there is neither life nor death, but awareness, Nowness, the great tension of muscles before that leap.

It will be a fun job, not so heavy not so sad as your past work. It is the reward! Is this exercise clear? It is a physical exercise, but of course the opposite is very much involved.

Julia: I believe so, and I will try it.

River: Always in life, is this sabotaging towards death. You will find within the pictures, within the memories of the body, deep psychological, physical and spiritual delays, opportunities, caverns that you need to fill and swell ans release with life. That is all. We would suggest that you begin with the feet and work up through the body. Intensely, be that spot alive! Of course, as with all exercises, there being there will be connected with being back home. Are there further questions about this matter?

Julia: Would it be good to try this exercise lying down as in meditation?

River: For this exercise it is not important, whether you are sitting in a chair or lying down, or in a meditative upright position, as long as it is easy for you to feel all the flesh. Particularly with this exercise and at this stage, the moving joints of knuckles, knees, ankles and hips, the moving places are where life finds itself.

So the position is not important. If it is comfortable for you to be lying down to sense these moving joints, then that is the way to do it. It is also interesting to note perhaps, that this is a clockwise process, while death is an anticlockwise process. Starting therefore on the right side of the body and going to the left may be more comfortable for you and more in harmony with the national energy of your body.

We would suggest that you start with the right foot, an moving upwards, spending most time with the knees, hips, elbow, shoulders, back, the neck. It is from the back of the neck from which life can most radiate out most fully. Are you ready to give up meditations of death, for you can cling as much to that as to life. We think you are! Are there further questions on this procedure?

Julia: I found death meditations were best in the very early morning, are there are good times for life meditations?

River: It will perhaps be better for you with your own body cycles to choose early morning. For others, it will perhaps be at other times. Certainly early morning and evening are the best times for all meditations. For it is at this time that the great noise of the world, the noise of demand and need, is at a low level and will not interfere so much with your own self.

Julia: The advice that you gave me about my neck was very helpful. (The River told me that I hold my neck leaning towards the right side and therefore caused an imbalance on that side which was creating pain. I began to correct that posture and the pain decreased.)

River:  Life, which is this, and death are of course one thing. Because there is no place where life begins and life ends. There is no place where death begins or ends. But there is always the joy of life now! Bringing that intensity into your neck when you have pain there, the intensity of now, the life of now, that has been the great work of all beings!

We will be going there if are no if there are no further questions. In fact there are less and less questions. Finally, we will sit in silence. (We both laugh.)
